TPVC 2021 CLUB SEASON

THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING TEAM PERFORMANCE VOLLEYBALL!
Spots for all positions for our 14U through 18U teams are now full.  Thank you for your interest.

We are excited for the 2021 volleyball club season!  Although the club season will look and feel quite different, we acknowledge the efforts and guidance of the provincial government, ViaSport BC, and Volleyball BC to provide young athletes to compete in a safe environment.

For the 2021 club volleyball season, TPVC will run teams at 14U, 15U, 16U, 17U, and 18U.  Click on each age category for more, specific information related to that group.  Volleyball BC has introduced a new application process to reduce numbers of athletes gathering for club tryouts.  Clubs have been encouraged to pre-sign existing athletes, so in many cases, tryout sessions may not be necessarily.  2021 athlete selection will be completed in three periods:
  • Period 1:  October 15 to November 15.  Returning athletes may receive a pre-sign offer to return.
  • Period 2:  November 16 to December 15.  Athletes may apply for a position with TPVC by completing a Volleyball BC Athlete Application.  We will also post application forms from our website.
  • Period 3:  December 16 to January 14.  If any remaining spots are available, TPVC will post tryout dates on our website. Tryouts will be begin on or after January 15.

A return to sport:  Transitions Measures stage.
Team Performance Volleyball Club is excited for the phased return of volleyball.  We have put together a detailed "return to play" plan for this summer and fall, under the direction and guidance from the Provincial Health Authority, Volleyball Canada, Volleyball BC, and ViaSport BC.  Our plan prioritizes the health and safety of our athletes while balancing modified activities.  Read our detailed plan here.

Updated March 17, 2020.
BC K-12 schools have been suspended until further notice.

Updated March 12, 2020.

With the increasing severity of COVID-19 concerns, Team Performance Volleyball Club continues to monitor developments, assess, and implement an action plan on this fluid and evolving situation.  With that, we will be following the lead of the Provincial Health Authority, as well our sport governing bodies.  We will also be communicating related information as early as possible.

The Provincial Health Officer has stated:
  • BC residents are recommended against all non-essential travel outside of Canada, including to the USA.
  • Should any BC resident travel, they are to stay away from work or school for 14 days upon one's return.
  • Directing event organizers to cancel all gatherings larger than 250.

These measures have a direct impact on TPVC athletes, personnel, and families:
  • Volleyball BC has cancelled: (* Updated March 16, 2020)
    • March 28/29 17U/18U Super Series in Kelowna.
    • April 4/5 15U Super Series, Fraser Valley.
    • April 4/5 16U Super Series in Victoria.
    • Spring Break camps and Team BC training.
  • Surrey facility rentals have only been cancelled for any events over 50.
  • The Provincial Health authority has reported (as of March 12) that school closures after Spring Break is not advised at this time.
  • USA volleyball has eliminated the sanctioning of all USA Volleyball activities (including camps) through March 31.
  • Any TPVC athletes planning to attend a non-sanctioned local or travel camp are advised to check with the organizers.

No doubt, there will be more announcements regarding practices, tournaments, provincials, and nationals closer to the end of March.  Your TPVC coaches will update you accordingly.

Updated March 5, 2020.
Hello TPVC family,

This message is being sent out over an abundance of caution.

With the ‘normal’ cold and flu season in full swing, and with heightened awareness over the outbreak of COVID-19, TPVC has discussed the potential impact on our members.  Though the current risk is still very low, this is an evolving situation, so our club plans to monitor and update accordingly, in the interest of preparedness.  We feel this is necessary as some of our athletes will be travelling over Spring Break, and our teams will be soon be attending events away from home.  Stay tuned for continued updates.  It is possible that, after spring break, we may not be able to practice due to facilities shut down.  We hope that is not the case, of course, but it is out of our hands.  In the meantime, please commit the following practices and behaviours to help you combat cold and flu season, and to minimize risk of viral transmission:

Practice and reinforce habits to minimize risk of viral transmissions like influenza:
  • Wash hands frequently with soap and water; 30s rule.
  • Avoid touching one’s mouth, eyes or nose with one’s hands.
  • Consider carrying alcohol-based sanitizers to events.
  • Launder gear regularly.
  • Vitamin-rich diet to support immune system.
  • Keeping properly hydrated.
  • Avoid “communal drink jugs” or sharing of drink bottles.
  • Disinfecting surfaces such as team tables, etc.
  • Continue to apply good hygienic habits outside of volleyball (in school, public, etc.)
  • If experiencing any symptoms (coughing, fever, etc.), inform coaches and do not attend team events until evaluated or cleared by medical personnel.

We also encourage you to engage in “no-contact” practices:
  • Avoid handshakes, “high-fives” and team hugs.
  • No pre-game and post-game hand contact with opponents and officials.
  • Try other forms of no-contact gestures such as waves, the “air high-five”, etc.!

We want our TPVC family members safe and healthy!  We’ll all work together to keep things that way!
HAVE A WONDERFUL, RESTFUL SPRING BREAK!!
